Books, Sugar Cravings, and
Counting Calories—Oh, My!
Lisa,
thank you so much for inviting me to participate in the Sizzling Summer
Extravaganza. And where I live in
Arizona, that’s a capital “S” for Sizzling. I don’t think it’s been below 105 degrees for the last month
so I’m all for a blog diversion like this one where it’s nice and cool.
I wanted
to talk about sweet things today—and by sweet, I’m talking those delicious
baked goods with powdered sugar, sprinkles, chocolate, even fresh fruit (as
long as there’s sugar somewhere in the vicinity). Now I know everyone is paranoid these days about consuming
too much sugar and flour but, gawd, I have a serious sweet tooth. It’s the little things, folks. Whenever I’m writing or reading, I need
to have something sweet close by.
I’m rather hooked on those sugar chippers at Paradise Bakery, especially
the ones that come with pink or green sprinkles. And if I’m feeling industrious, I love to bake raspberry
scones. Raspberry scones are
perfect with coffee or tea whenever I’m buried in a great book.
So it’s
no wonder that raspberry scones feature prominently in my latest release,
CRAVING PERFECT. While CRAVING
PERFECT is in no way autobiographical, my heroine adores raspberry scones.
What’s
your favorite sweet or snack? Do
you prefer salty or sweet when you reach for something delish to nosh on?

The book sounds sweetly delicious! And I have a serious scone addiction, abetted by my local Starbucks.
Best of luck with all of your writing! (And staying cool.) :)
Thanks again, Lisa, for inviting me to blog party!
@Susan: Starbucks was taking too much out of my wallet every month. I finally had to invest in a coffee maker. Now I have hazelnut coffee every afternoon at home. Once a week, I head out to Paradise Bakery or a coffe shop for a change of scenery and free airconditioning (and something sweet to nosh on, of course).
Glad to have you here, Liz!
I miss coffee and sweets! I've been doing P90X, so all the yummy stuff I love to eat is off limits. Boo!!
My craving is Chocolate. I try not to eat too much, but I keep small pieces to nimble on. My favorite coffee is Hazelnut, so I had my family get me a Keurig for my birthday last year. Love it, can get any flavor, my hubby even loves it!!
Your book really looks good!!

@Lisa, not have coffee?! I think I would die. Seriously. Good luck with the P90X!
@Judy: You and me, both. I LOVE chocolate. It is my weakness (after coffee). I don't go a week without a chocolate something.
Ooh, a raspberry scone would be SO good w/ my coffee right now. But I'm a chocolate girl, like you---if chocolate is an option why pick anything else? I've become a big fan of dark chocolate.
Still love that book cover!
This is fun! Well, I prefer actually salty snacks, but I also adore... chocolate! you post made me craving chocolate, but I don't have any at home. :)
