Have you ever played the game where you guess what type of animal your friends would be? For whatever reason, whenever my friends played the game, I always got chosen as something unintimidating, like Kuala or Chipmunk. Not exactly a scary predator found in the average shifter story.
Truth is, most of us probably wouldn’t fall under the wolf, lion, hyena categories. Which is why, in the world of my Alpine Woods Shifters series, the characters shift into a wide variety of animals, not just the typical predator. The series focuses around the Callahan family, a family of wolves, but all of them mate outside the pack (at least so far). In Arctic Winds, the heroine is an arctic fox. But the really unique shifters in the world come out in the second book, Chasing Paradise, being released this Monday with Lyrical Press.
Our story opens on an exclusive shifter only resort in California. We see everything from Cheetah shifters to horse shifters, and our heroine’s type of animal, otters. Yep, you read that right. My heroine is an otter shifter. She’s short, curvy, quiet, and a great fisher. So what happens when an innocent otter shifter finds her match in a stubborn wolf who’s determined to avoid mating? You’ll just have to read the book to find out.
He’ll do whatever it takes to earn back her trust.
A vacation is exactly what Ethan needs to escape the mate hungry females in his pack. Determined to have fun, he can’t think of a better way to start than sampling all the different flavors the shifter only resort has to offer, and not the food variety. But after he meets Gwen, no one else holds any interest for him. Ethan came on vacation to avoid mating. There’s no way he’s going to give up his freedom without a fight.
Gwen is devastated when she hears her mate denying everything they are to each other. She can’t sit by, watching him fool around with other girls at the resort. Or worse, crawl back, unable to resist the mating pull but not really wanting her. She needs to get away and her own vacation sounds like the perfect plan. But she should have remembered what her mother always taught her, never run from a predator unless you want them to chase you. The hunt is on…

I love romance. I love reading romance, living romance (who doesn't), but I especially love writing romance. There's no greater feeling than watching my characters come alive in each other's arms. Most of all, I love giving my characters the happily ever afters they deserve, with a little necessary drama first.
One of my favorite things is picking up a new book and sinking into the story, immersing myself in the emotions between the characters. I hope someday to inspire readers the same way my favorite authors have inspired me.
When not writing, I can usually be found curled up on the couch with a good book, taking my dogs for walks, or spending time with my family. It always makes my day to hear from my readers.
I can also be found on facebook, twitter, and Goodreads.
