Why Vampires Are Sexy with Arial Burnz- Part 4

Welcome to Part 4 of Arial Burnz’s guest blog post on the Scorcher Blog Tour – Week 1! (If this is your first stop, you’ll want to go back to Part 1.

Thanks so much for having me on your blog, Lisa!!

Continuing with our topic Why Vampires Are Sexy: As mentioned before, most vampires in stories these days have heightened senses. This is what benefits the reader most, I think. The more of the five senses you bring into a story, the more the reader is brought into the experience. The feather-light touches of breath and lips against skin. The urgent pulses of panting and heartbeats caressing the ears. The anticipated taste of a kiss. The aroma of rose oil, musky sexuality and even the forbidden scent and taste of blood.

Which brings me to another allure of vampires…the forbidden. There is a dark side to most creatures of the night, which has the immediate label of “Bad Boy” or “Bad Girl” written all over it. There’s something sexy about danger! Most vampires engage in the forbidden act of consuming our life’s blood, or in some situations our souls. It’s a deadly line they walk, associating with mortals and the source of their sustenance.

In this excerpt, Broderick and Davina share their first kiss, and Broderick has a difficult time controlling the Hunger in him, which wants to devour her as much as he does:

You’ll have to go to the next blog to read that excerpt. I’m SUCH a tease! Before you do, let’s check in and give a purpose to your post. Continuing to excite the six senses as it pertains to vampires…we’ll explore the sense of sight in this post.

What do YOU find hot about what you SEE regarding vampires? Do signs of the supernatural excite you? Broderick has a silver core in the pupils of his eyes when the Hunger is aroused. Is a full, kissable mouth more titillating with a pair of fangs? Is it that “Bad Boy/Girl” aura about the vampire that is so exciting? Do tell!

I think it's the pale skin and dark hair that does it for me. I dated a guy in college for a while simply because he looked like a vampire to me...and he liked to pretend to be one too sometimes...

P.S. Lisa - Meet an Author Monday blog hop today? No pressure.

I LOVE vampire with the Silver eyes. I think the whole red eye deal is overused and you can get even more intense and wicked when you sort of give them that silver look. Vampires wrap up everything in a hunky or sexy package to make you want them. They are almost like fallen angel so to speak.

Yes, the silver-eye feature is most intriguing and I completely agree with you! Especially about the fallen angel comment - not far from the truth in my stories. Thanks for stopping by, Linds!

I think the "eyes" have it for me. If they really are the window to the soul, the fact that most vamps in contemporary literature, have eyes that change color with their mood, arousal or hunger is incredibly sexy.
I agree that fangs add to the BadBoy nature of a vamp, as does the description of what his body looks like - usually "chiseled" and "rock hard" come to mind. So you "see" their strength as well as feel it.
On to the next...

Windows to the soul, indeed! I actually use that as a main point throughout my series in the connection between Broderick and Davina! And I love that idea of eyes changing to reflect the mood of the vampire. I was actually going to use that in Book 4 for my werewolves!! Sounds like we're all on the same wave length! I love this!!

For me it's in the eyes, in humans it can be intense but in vampires it is even more heigthened to be mesmerizing or hypnotizing even if they unleash their powers onto you. You can see into their soul -if they allow you. For instance it is a bottomless black pit but in a vampires it can be fire. The eyes always tell a story and are fascinating.
